How do I get a Library Card?


Any one who is a resident of the Village of North Palm Beach may get a Library Card. Residents of municipality libraries that are members of the Library Cooperative of the Palm Beaches or live in unincorporated areas of Palm Beach County may also get Library Cards.

Acceptable identification include:
  • Florida Driver's License
  • Florida ID Card
  • Florida Voters Registration Card
  • Lease or Mortgage With Applicant's Name
  • Tax or Utility Bill With Applicant's Name

Is there a limit on what I can check out at 1 time?


Yes. At the time of registration a patron may check out only 3 items. After that, the following limits apply:
  • 25 Books - Adult/Children
  • 10 New Books
  • 10 Audiobooks on CD
  • 10 Music CDs
  • 10 DVDs
  • 10 Magazines
  • 10 Playaway View
  • 10 ILL
  • eReaders 1 per household
  • Reference Material - Authorized by Reference Desk

What are the loan periods for library materials?


  • New and Bestsellers Books 7 or 14 days
  • General Fiction 28 days
  • General Nonfiction 28 days
  • Audiobooks 28 days
  • Music CDs 28 days
  • DVDs 7 days
  • Magazines 28 days
  • Playaway View 28 days
  • ILL 28 days
  • eReaders 28 days

Does the library charge fines?


Yes, fines represent 1 of the library's revenue streams. So, we like to think of it as "donations" to the library.
  • DVDs - .25 a day per item
  • Inter-Library Loans and e-Readers - .25 cents per day per item
  • All other materials - .25 cents per day per item
  • Lost items - Replacement cost of item

May I renew my materials online?


Yes, the staff can also renew your items over the phone at 561-841-3383.

  • Enter User ID (Number on your Library Card)
  • Enter Pin (Last 4 numbers on your Library Card)
  • If the pin will not work call circulation desk
  • Login to the e-library OPAC
  • Use the "I need Material" link

  2. Enter User ID: Number on your Library Card
  3. Enter Pin: Last 4 numbers on your Library Card (If the pin will not work call circulation desk)
  4. Login to the e-library OPAC
  5. Use the "I need Material" link
  6. To Place Holds
  7. Recommend to Order
  8. My Account
  9. Review My Account
  10. User Pin Change
