Science Center Investigating InsectsThe Cox Science Center and Aquarium is coming to the library! Learn all about insects in their interactive lab as we discuss habitats, characteristics and the beneficial role that insects play in our environment. Limited capacity (40).

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary is coming to the library and they're bringing along a few animal friends! Learn about the animals native to Florida and what we can do to help them.

Rainforest Investigations

Rainforest Investigations

Science Eye is bringing the rainforest to the library! Our science explorer will discuss what makes a rainforest a rainforest, the layers of the rainforest, different animals found there, and what they need for survival. Then, join us after to make your own rainforest butterfly!

Join Loggerhead Marine Life Center to learn about sea turtle nesting season! In this interactive presentation, attendees will learn all about sea turtle nesting, the research that LMC's team conducts, and how you can help us 'Respect the Locals'!

Professor McGonagallProf. McGonagall arrives with a wonderful, wizardly show! Of course there is magic, including a potions class. She shares stories related to the books, trivia, and prizes to the winners. There is a load of schoolish fun right from the Academy, with diplomas, too!

Wildlife Survival Kit
Thursday, July 13 / 2:00 p.m.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Wildlife Kit

Join us for an introduction to Florida’s common mammals and the endangered Red-cockaded Woodpecker. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s Florida Youth Conservation Centers Network (FYCCN) will bring hands-on materials including pelts, skulls, and tracks to get up close and familiar with our mammalian friends. We will all become familiar with identification skills, even when the animal isn’t actually seen! Attendees will also get familiarized with one of Florida’s most special bird species, the Red-cockaded Woodpecker.

Star Stories_ Greek Myths - A Shadow Puppet ShowLook up! The night sky is full of star constellations. The ancient Greeks named the star constellations after their awesome myths and folktales. Katie Adams performs these myths with colorful shadow puppets, storytelling and audience participation. See the stories and the star constellations that go with them! Stories include Pandora’s Box, Perseus and Pegasus, Icarus, and Baucis and Philemon. These amazing Greek myth stories inspire young audiences to learn more about the stars and to read Greek myths.
