The Village of North Palm Beach Sanitation Division is changing pick-up days for vegetative yard debris and for bulk items.

Starting in January, collection days for yard debris (such as trimmed tree branches) are changing to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for all single-family homes in North Palm Beach. Collection of bulk items (such as appliances) is changing to Tuesdays for multi-unit properties, and to Thursdays for all single-family homes.

The pick-up days for regular household trash and for recycling materials are not changing for any residents.

As of January 1, the full weekly collection schedule for all residential pickups is:

  • Monday - Garbage and vegetative yard material
  • Tuesday - Bulk items and multi-unit recycling
  • Wednesday - Garbage and vegetative yard material
  • Thursday - Bulk items and single-family recycling
  • Friday - Garbage and vegetative yard material

Essentially, the changes are just a swap of the pick-up days of the affected items. The changes will allow Village crews to clear weekend yard clippings of the street more often (and one day sooner) and will allow more efficient scheduling of staff and collection vehicles.

The changes take effect beginning January 1st, but there will be no collections that day because of the New Year’s holiday.

Before the Village Council approved the change on November 8, the Public Works Department gave a PowerPoint presentation explaining the benefits of the change.
