The Village of North Palm Beach Parks and Recreation Department has four Thor Guard Lightning Prediction units.
The Thor Guard units are located at:
- Anchorage Park: Monitored 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Osborne Park: Monitored 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Community Center: Monitored 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- NPB Country Club: Monitored 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
When the Thor Guard system alarm sounds, all facilities temporarily close until the all clear signal is given. We ask that you seek appropriate shelter which includes the following:
- Inside buildings
- Hardtop vehicles
- Other lightning protected facilities and amenities
- As a last resort, seek low-lying areas
If you live close to one of the above facilities, you may hear the horn alarms going off. One long blast signals that lightning is in the area - seek shelter. Horn will give 3 short blasts signaling it is all clear and you can resume outdoor activity. When system is under storm warning, a flashing yellow light continuously strobes until the all clear signal has been given.
