Are you ready for storm season?
Dear residents,
With the start of hurricane season, I wanted to take a moment to remind everyone of the importance of being prepared. While it's easy to become complacent, thinking that a storm won't hit us, it's important to remember that hurricanes can be unpredictable and devastating.
Living in a coastal area, we are at risk of experiencing the destructive effects of hurricanes. We've seen the devastating impact that hurricanes have had on communities in the past, and we don't want to see that happen here.
That's why it's crucial that we take the necessary steps to prepare ourselves and our homes for the possibility of a hurricane. Here are a few things you can do to ensure you're ready:
- Create an emergency kit: Assemble a kit that includes non-perishable food, water, batteries, flashlights, and any necessary medications. It's also a good idea to have cash on hand in case of power outages.
- Make a plan: Develop an evacuation plan that includes a safe place to go, a route to get there, and a designated meeting spot for your family in case you get separated.
- Secure your home: Ensure it is as hurricane-proof as possible by installing storm shutters or boarding up windows, securing loose outdoor items, and trimming trees and bushes.
Remember, it's always better to be over prepared than under prepared when it comes to hurricanes. By taking these steps now, you can help protect yourself, your family, and your home.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter, and please stay safe this hurricane season.
Sincerely,
Chuck Huff
