Propose a Program at the Library
Are you a local author, speaker, or organization interested in sharing your knowledge or story with the community? The Library welcomes program proposals for author talks, lectures, workshops, and other engaging events.
Submission of an application does not guarantee scheduling. Library staff will contact applicants if a program is approved.
This process is for Library-sponsored programs and is not a meeting room rental request. Individuals or groups seeking to reserve a meeting room for private use should visit our Meeting Room Policy and Rental Page linked below. Program proposals submitted through this page are for Library-curated events that are open to the public and planned in partnership with Library staff.
General Program Guidelines
The Library welcomes program proposals that educate, inspire, and engage the community. All proposed programs are reviewed by Library staff and scheduled based on alignment with the Library’s mission, audience interest, space availability, and staff capacity.
To be considered, proposed programs must meet the following guidelines:
- Programs must be open to the public.
- Programs must take place on Library property and be scheduled during normal operating hours.
- Programs are planned in collaboration with Library staff and may be modified to meet space, time, or audience needs.
- The Library reserves the right to decline or reschedule proposals that do not align with Library policies, programming goals, or community standards.
- Programs may not be used to promote or advertise a for-profit business, service, or ongoing commercial venture, except as permitted within an approved Library program.
- The Library is unable to host private events, closed meetings, or invitation-only programs through this process.
Submission of a proposal does not guarantee that a program will be scheduled. Library staff will contact applicants if a proposal is approved or if additional information is needed.
Registration & Attendance
Most library programs require advance registration either online or in-person. The Library collects participant phone numbers to confirm attendance and may contact registrants approximately two days before an event. Programs with fewer than five confirmed participants may be subject to cancellation or rescheduling in consultation with the presenter.
Local Authors & Author Events
The Library is proud to support and showcase local authors from North Palm Beach and Palm Beach County. Local authors are welcome to submit physical copies of their books for consideration in the Library’s collection and may also propose author talks, readings, signings, and related programs.
To be considered for an author event, a physical copy of the book must first be submitted to the Library and approved for inclusion in the collection. All submitted materials are reviewed by Library staff based on content, quality, and suitability for the collection.
Accepted local author titles are cataloged and circulated under the same policies as other Library materials and are subject to standard circulation and deaccession guidelines. Items removed from the collection that remain in readable condition may be included in the Friends of the Library Book Sale.
Once a book has been approved and if the author has indicated interest in presenting a program, Library staff will contact the author to discuss possible programming opportunities. When appropriate, local authors may also be considered for multi-author events and showcases.
The Library strives to accommodate author program requests whenever possible but reserves the right to decline proposals that do not align with Library policies, programming goals, or space and scheduling availability. The Library is unable to host ongoing book sales or promote for-profit ventures outside of approved Library programs.
