NOTE: NEW COUNCIL START TIME OF 6:00 p.m.
Here is a summary of the key issues the Village Council will address at their meeting on Thursday, August 22 at 6 p.m. in Village Hall:
- Issue proclamations for Florida Water Professionals Month, Hunger Action Month, and Hispanic Heritage Month.
- Listen to an annual overview presentation from the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics.
- Consider approval of an easement for Florida Power and Light to make LED lighting improvements in Anchorage Park.
- Consider on 2nd reading approval of an ordinance imposing impact fees on new development. Impact fees are one-time fees local governments may charge a developer to cover a portion of the anticipated cost of additional infrastructure and public facilities needed to support new development.
- Consider accepting numerous revisions to the Village Comprehensive Plan, in accordance with Florida law that requires a review of the plan every seven years. The goal is to better align the Compressive Plan with community objectives, adapt to changing conditions and trends affecting the community, and comply with changes in state requirements.
- Consider on first reading amending the Country Club Budget to transfer $328,001 between two Country Club accounts to fund payment to Farmer's Table for partial costs of improvements Farmer's Table made to the Country Club facility.
- Continue their 1st reading discussion from the August 8 meeting about approving a Master Site Development Plan for 13 acres at the former Twin Cities Mall site. At the August 8 meeting, Council asked the developer to reduce the number of stories for proposed buildings fronting U.S. 1. and present a modified proposal at the August 22 meeting. The Master Plan sets the maximum development parameters for the site. Approval of the plan does not authorize construction. If a Master Plan is approved, each phase will undergo separate site plan and appearance reviews by the Planning, Zoning and Adjustment Board and the Village Council.
- Consider approval of an agreement with Lessing Florida Venture to run the restaurant at the Country Club beginning October 1.
- Consider a request for approval of a minor amendment to the Crystal Cove Commons commercial development, allowing outdoor seating plan changes and other modifications at Matteo's restaurant.
- Consider a proposal from First Florida Insurance Brokers to provide Property, Casualty and Workers' Compensation Insurance through Public Risk Management of Florida.
- Listen to an update from Village Manager Chuck Huff about progress on the 2025 Village Budget preparation.
