Here is a summary of the key issues the Village Council will address at their meeting on Thursday, June 22nd, beginning at 7 p.m. For more details, click the link at the bottom to the full agenda package. At the meeting, the Council will:
- Listen to a presentation and annual overview from the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics.
- Consider on 2nd reading, proposed zoning text changes relating to setback requirements in the Commercial Mixed-Use zoning district along U.S. Highway 1. Staff is recommending the setback changes to address unforeseen and unintended consequences of recent changes to state law. Setback regulations determine how far back from property lines a building must be to get approval for construction.
- Consider on 1st reading, approval of how and where artificial turf can be placed at residences, what types of materials will be allowed, and what insallation requirements will be. Many homeowners are turning to artificial turf as a means of replacing all or part of their existing lawns with a similar green surface that does not require irrigation or growth management.
- Consider approval of an agreement with FEMA for reimbursement of costs incurred by the Village from Hurricane Nicole.
- Consider approval of a Fire Department request for to purchase E-Key System from the Knox Company at a cost of $49,686. Fire Rescue has been utilizing Knox Box products for rapid entry into properties more than 30 years. Knox has recently updated its system to electronic locks with coded key fobs and remote monitoring. This system provides enhanced security and accountability to the property owners utilizing the system.
- Consider approving a purchase order with Precision Landscape Company in an amount not exceed $150,000 for miscellaneous landscaping and grounds maintenance services.
- Consider approving a proposal from Haverland AG Innovations to replace sod and soil damaged by the tornado and to provide new field irrigation at the Community Center at a cost of $171,737.
- Consider approving a Contract with Musco Sports Lighting for the purchase and installation of new athletic field and basketball court lighting at the Community Center (to replace tornado damaged systems) at a cost of $443,028.
- Consider approving the purchase of two Mercury Outboard Engines for the Police Department's Marine2 Patrol Boat from Nick's Creative Marine at a cost of $84,000.
- Consider approving the purchase of four Chevrolet Tahoe Sport Utility Police Patrol Vehicles from Duval Chevrolet and equipped by Dana Safety Supply at a cost not to exceed $263,796.
- Designate a voting delegate for the Florida League of Cities Conference.
Residents are encouraged to attend meetings in person and to offer commentary about Village business. Council meetings are streamed live, but interactive Zoom technology is no longer used.
